Inspector Jon Nordh and his young partner Svea Karhuu, a criminal profiler with a dark past, are called to rural Skåne. Three teenage girls from an eco-commune have been found brutally executed, with an obscure message written on the wall in the victims' blood.
While the insular, cult-like community remains silent, further murders plunge the investigation into chaos, muddied by lies, cover-ups and prejudice.
Karhuu travels to the remote expanses of northern Sweden to consult a Sami shaman about the victims' secret fears, while Nordh exposes a historic pattern of sexual abuse, right-wing extremism, and deep institutional corruption stretching into the highest ranks of law enforcement. The investigators are pushed to their limits as more murders occur and dark secrets begin to surface.
