How Not to Run a Business

Realizing an old dream, Daniel opens a café. Now he just has one problem: reality.

In his personal life, Daniel is happily married to Aylin, but professionally the cynical iciness of the advertising industry is increasingly getting him down. When his regular haunt unexpectedly closes, he convinces Aylin to seize the opportunity to open a café – against all financial sense. The path to the café’s opening alone is already strewn with good advice and catastrophes. But the worst is yet to come: the customers! A retired poodle granny, a smart-alecky hipster, a soccer coach with a drinking problem, an alleged child prodigy by the name of Jonas Hortensius as well as Daniel’s erstwhile ’68er parents and Aylin’s Turkish family.

The customers stay home when they’re supposed to come, and when they’re there, they order what they want – but not what’s on the menu. When a water pipe bursts, the chef loses his nerve and a television crew shows up, the chaos reaches its apotheosis. After just a few weeks, Daniel isn’t just about to go bankrupt, but crazy as well!

The bestselling author Moritz Netenjakob turns his experiences as a failed café owner into a fireworks display of gags, absurd situations and wonderful characters. By the end, you just want to be a regular in this café, too.
