Death on the red carpet – a thrilling crime debut from the south of France
It’s May – time for the Cannes Film Festival. The whole city is vibrating and full of photographers, journalists, film stars and those who want to become them. And suddenly, right in the midst of it all, the famous director Serge Thibaut is murdered during a press screening of his new documentary.
Commissioner Léon Duval, who has recently relocated to the French Riviera from Paris, has to leave his unpacked moving boxes where they are and immediately launch an investigation. After all, the festival can’t afford any negative publicity. The case needs to be solved quickly. Who might have had an interest in the death of the filmmaker who campaigned so tirelessly for the preservation of the rainforest? And was Serge Thibaut really such a selfless do-gooder? Duval’s research soon leads him into a seemingly inextricable undergrowth of vanity, intrigue and corruption.
