Touched by Life

A moving memoir about one of the most important writers of the 20th century: author and critic Peter Henning gives us an intimate insight into his deep connection with Cologne-based author Dieter Wellershoff.

Wellershoff, known throughout his life for his solitary nature and his love of the seclusion of his study, surprisingly formed a close friendship with the younger writer Peter Henning in his old age. Within a very short time, a deep intellectual connection developed between the two, which Peter Henning now, eight years after Wellershoff's death, describes as a story of elective affinity. In equally personal and impressive descriptions, Peter Henning shares with us his relationship with Wellershoff, who was a mentor, advisor, and fatherly friend to him. A must-read for anyone who wants to rediscover the life and work of this extraordinary man and writer.
