In the vast expanse of space, there lies a solar system where eschatological peace reigns. Its six planets and two moons are ruled by a wise computer intelligence that makes the fairest decisions on the basis of perfect statistics and overall prosperity. It’s a post-democratic era of peace and self-control.

People have come together to form collectives, aesthetic communities competing for the best lifestyle. Marten Eliot and Emma Glendale, two top-notch young fellows of the Dolfin Collective, leave their home campus and travel from planet to planet to recruit new members. But the solar system is shaken when the aggressive collective of broken hearts – generally thought to be comprised of emotional losers – throws a wrench into the works. Poisonous mint-colored clouds rise from the marketplaces and summer camps; actual violence threatens to return to the planetary community. In their travels, Marten and Emma come dangerously close to the broken hearts. Can the two of them prevent this coup?

"[Leif Randt] delivers not only an extremely cleverly constructed sci-fi story, but also an exceedingly clear-sighted novel of ideas that asks about the value of the human flaw." - zeit.de
