A trip to where nobody actually wants to go – A Visit to Afghanistan

A journey far beyond the comfort zone

The comedian Kurt Krömer was a conscientious objector and still is a self-professed pacifist. However, when the German armed forces in Afghanistan wanted him to perform for them, he spontaneously said yes. In his notes Kurt Krömer reports on his journey into one of the most dangerous crisis areas in the world. This journey even led to a second one to find out about not only the daily life of the German soldiers, but also about the life in the capital Kabul. What is so sensational about this report is the combination of comedy and tragedy, quick wit and exact observations of the ever-present threat facing the soldiers in Afghanistan.

Kurt Krömer’s dry humour is never cynical, but downright liberating when, in his inimitable way, he portrays the ever-present lurking danger, and the male and female soldiers there, who welcomed him with open arms.
