Michael Weidling, TV journalist, is stuck in a life crisis. First, he has a blackout during a live interview, then his relationship falls apart. At this turning point in his life, he decides to take a time out and go to Majorca – and unexpected things happen: Next to falling in love, he becomes friends with the Majorcan architect Tone, and with Tomeu, a mysterious man who opens many doors and the eyes for an unknown world.
Along with Michael Weidling the readers start to feel at home at the market place of Llucmajor, and in the Bar Colón, where the ticket seller Enrique and the hairdresser Augustín spread the rumours of the island. They see the beach of Es Trenc without the many summer guests and get to know how Michael Weidling reconstructs old ruins as a new home.
Through the eyes of the protagonist, they discover the other Majorca, its people, the ancient traditions and feasts, the nearly invisible power structures, the slightly bizarre colony of German islanders.
Against the backdrop of the Mediterranean landscape, whose face changes in the course of the seasons, the readers experience how Michael Weidling finds himself in a foreign country and creates a new home on the island.
