The Academy (Stachelmann 6)

Hot on the trail of an invisible political power: the likeable loser among the detectives investigates Germany’s past again.

Leipzig historian Heinz Rehmer was investigating a huge conspiracy – that was all he was willing to tell his former colleague Stachelmann over dinner. The next morning, Rehmer’s corpse is discovered in the Federal Archives in Berlin.

Stachelmann can’t stop thinking about what Rehmer told him: Did it have something to do with the murder? The detective and his assistant Georgie search painstakingly through the files Rehmer had ordered from the archives. But their efforts are in vain. Just as Stachelmann is about to throw in the towel, a stranger threatens him with a pistol. Then Georgie vanishes without a trace. A puzzle in which none of the pieces fit together.

Ultimately, Stachelmann has only one choice: to find Rehmer’s murderer before he becomes his next victim.
